LayerZero Power Systems Launches Single Module Redundant OPTS Static Transfer Switch
Chagrin Falls, Ohio (November 10, 2002) LayerZero Power Systems, Inc. announces the release of the Single Modular Redundant (SMR) Optical Power Transfer Switch (OPTS), a static transfer switch with fault tolerance that is designed to protect critical loads in data centers. The Single Modular Redundant OPTS sets a new standard in cost-effective switching technology for data centers with redundant power paths, protecting sensitive equipment from interruption in the event of a power failure.
LayerZero Single Modular Redundant topology is unique that it the system is fail-safe, maintaining full switching functionality even if the critical board were to fail. Such designs significantly improves uptime in the overall availability equation, achieving high levels of dependability at a lower cost than Triple Modular Redundant (TMR) configurations. The system is designed for data center operators who seek to economically increase reliability, and who manage operations that do not require the resiliency of a TMR system.
The release of the LayerZero SMR OPTS configuration permits small to medium sized data centers to gain entry into the mission-critical segment. The LayerZero SMR OPTS enables operators to cost-effectively integrate LayerZero products into their design, to realize maximum system performance and uptime.
