At LayerZero Power Systems, we recognize that many of our employees bring experiences, commitments, and responsibilities that extend well beyond the workplace. Those experiences often strengthen the way we work together, bringing discipline, perspective, and dedication that benefit the entire organization.
We’re proud to recognize Brandon Pike, a member of the National Guard and Software Security Engineer at LayerZero Power Systems, who recently nominated LayerZero Power Systems for the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Patriot Award.
What Is ESGR?
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense program that recognizes employers who actively support employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.
The Patriot Award is presented based on nominations from service members who believe their employer has made a meaningful difference in their ability to fulfill military responsibilities while maintaining a civilian career.

Brandon’s Experience at LayerZero
Brandon joined LayerZero in August 2025, bringing with him a strong cybersecurity background shaped in part by military training and service.
From the beginning, he was transparent about the commitments that come with National Guard service, including extended training periods, scheduled absences, and time away under military orders.
He credits Shujing Zhu, Director of Engineering, and PJ Morley, Manager – Software Engineering I, with establishing a supportive environment early on—one where his experience was valued and his scheduling needs were understood.
Their flexibility and willingness to accommodate military obligations helped make Brandon’s transition into civilian industry significantly smoother and reduced much of the stress that can come with balancing two demanding roles.
A Culture of Support and Recognition
That support, Brandon says, extends beyond his immediate team.
He recalls a Veterans Day gathering where Milind Bhanoo, co-founder of LayerZero, took time to personally recognize each veteran in attendance. While simple, the gesture stood out because it reflected genuine appreciation rather than formality.
Brandon also shared that Patrick Taylor, CEO of LayerZero, made time—despite a demanding schedule—to connect with him after one of his training periods and learn more about what that experience involved.
These moments reflect something broader within LayerZero: military service is not only respected, but supported in practical ways through flexibility, understanding, and consistent follow-through.

Looking Ahead
We’re grateful to Brandon for his continued service and proud to support employees who serve both inside and outside the workplace.
Supporting military service members is something we take seriously, and it reflects the broader way we aim to support our team as a whole.
